This fan has many features that you will not find on other ornamentals such as the self-limiting speed regulator and the manual shut-off option. The manual shut-off option allows the windmill to be viewed with the tail pulled parallel to the blades and will stop the blades from spinning as the fan is turned ‘out of the wind’. The 18 blade assembly is constructed from 18 Gauge (0.059” Thick), ASTM A526, Z700 Galvanized Sheet Metal. Much thicker than the 20 gauge (0.0359”) used in original windmills. The heavy framework is 1/8” thick Galvanized metal of equal material grade and galvanize. The axial is mounted on two 1” Sealed pillow Block Bearings for quiet and smooth operation. Click here for information on dimensions TowersTwo tower sizes are available, 16’ (4’ square base) and 24’ (6’ square base). Both are constructed of 18 gage, Z700 galvanized material. Tower legs are 2 ½ inch angles with a folded safety edge for safety and added strength. Diagonal braces are 1x1 angles which provides inherent strength over the flat strips used by competitors. Towers are all bolted and come with optional Platform and Earth anchors.
PlatformA wooded platform adds character to your Jewell Windmill. It also serves as a standing surface for maintenance. The platform package includes 1” thick wood platform deck surface, two supporting beams, and fasteners.
Earth AnchorsEarth anchors provide an attractive alternative to concreting your windmill in place (depending on soil conditions). The anchors are an easy and cheap way to secure the tower. It also gives flexibility in moving the tower in the future. No special tools or training is required to install them. The anchors are galvanized for increased life and are 38” in length.
